Sharath Martin has spent the last three decades in the realms of finance and accounting and more recently in sustainability. Based in Malaysia, he serves as the Senior Policy & Insights Consultant for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the Asia Pacific region where he focuses on raising the Asian voice in policy-making and thought leadership.

His career is distinguished by significant roles in risk and strategy, including positions at a Big Four firm, a globally operating listed company, and the Malaysian capital market regulator. Having lived and worked through the Asian Financial Crisis, the Global Financial Crisis, and the recent pandemic-induced crisis, he believes strongly in the need for businesses to rebalance their priorities and put people, profit and planet on par with each other.

Sharath also serves on the Board of Trustees of WWF-Malaysia, which works to sustain the natural world for the benefit of people and wildlife, focusing on six major themes: forests, oceans, wildlife, food, climate and energy, as well as freshwater.

An alumnus of the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School, Sharath holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Strategy and is an ACCA Fellow. At a more personal level, Sharath is a huge cricket fan and firmly believes that yoga has radically transformed his life.
