Shift responds to Canadian government consultation on measures to tackle forced labor in supply chains /
Shift has responded to a consultation by the Canadian government on the possible introduction of human rights due diligence requirements for businesses.
The consultation, which closed late last month, focused on potential due diligence measures that would require Canadian businesses operating abroad to identify, address and remediate risks to forced labor rights across their operations and supply chain.
Shift welcomes the Government of Canada’s leadership in considering the introduction of human rights due diligence requirements for businesses, alongside a revision of the existing forced labor import ban, to strengthen Canada’s approach to addressing forced labor and labor exploitation in company operations and global supply chains.
